Hi,

I have a VOX BUCKINGHAM amp that I play bass guitar thru (this amp has a
bass channel). I love the sound.

It currently has 2 12" 16 OHM VOX BULLDOG speakers. The amp is rated at
about 35 watts RMS. The speaker enclosure is open back and the cabinet
volume is about 2.8 cubic feet.

I would like to replace the speakers. Any suggestions??

Thanks

I realize that they are not 16 ohm. My Essex Bass amp was touted to
have "Two Vox Bulldog 12" Bass speakers". They actually had 8 ohm
Oxford 12T6 with 1966 date codes. This was one of the standard speakers
for Blackface Fender Bassman, Bandmaster, And Twin Reverb. Though some
say that the 85 watt Twin blew the speakers regularly. What are the
codes on the current speakers?

If I'm not mistaken, those bulldogs go for a pretty good price on eBay.
Better yet, you might see about posting on the bulletin board at
webervst.com to trade. It's my impression that at least a few folks who
hang out there know something about speakers. You can post this message
there with an offer to trade. See what develops. I suspect you'll be
looking for a 3-way swap, though.
