I am considering putting one in a Deluxe Reverb reissue.
Goal is best clean with no distortion.
What do you think of them?

Thanks.

It has 150watt at 102db SPL, that sounds like a lot of clean to me
without overloading the amp to get the volume.

I like the Eminance tonal guide:

I have not heard one. I have an Eminence Red White & Blues that I
really like in my Mesa Lone Star Special. This does a good job in
this amp of balancing cleans and slightly overdriven sounds without
being too bright or too dark.

The Tonker should have a very pronounced British (Celestion type)
sound. It has a noticeable 6 dB notch at 1.4 kHz and quite a high
frequency hump from 1.8 kHz to around 5 kHz. This speaker will sound
even more British with a deeper notch than the Governor (which is close
to a Vintage 30 sound), but brighter.

Personally, I think the Eminence Patriot series speakers are a better
match to the DR for good cleans, but this is entirely subjective. I
would go even farther and suggest that you might like an old JBL D-120
for the ultimate clean sound.

If you have an idea of the frequency response of the speaker you now
have in the amp, and what you like or don't like about it, then check
out the frequency response plots at the Eminence web site to get an
idea of which speakers would sound brighter or darker, with heavier or
lighter bass and mids compared to what you've got.

If you can't narrow down the choice, you will just have to buy one and
try it. You can always sell it on e-bay.

Audiophool idiot. It's becoming increasingly apparent that you wouldn't
know good guitar tone if it bit you on your precious ass.
If one were to believe your various hifalutin' pronouncements, rock and
roll could only be played by those willing and able to
spend thousands to get your approved gear. The guys who actually MAKE
the music know better. Perhaps you should toddle
off to alt.dumbass.gearsnob.

Is this based on real experience using the speaker with guitar, or your
usual nonsense?

I tried a Tonker in my Soldano. It was GRRREAT for cleans, but a little too
fizzy on overdrive...should be a great match for your DR. It's powerful and
has very little cone breakup. It's very tight and punchy.

Had Eminence in a Twin. Very nice high fidelity sound. Great to use with
effects on the front end. I however opted a pair of Weber Californian's
which fit the ballsy blues sound I was after.
