What do the following things have in common?
America’s astonishing, gruesome death toll of half a million at the hands of a needless pandemic that was allowed to spiral out of control. That’s more American deaths than in the World Wars.
Five people shot during a violent seeming coup attempt at the Capitol. Two more who committed suicide. A majority of Republicans who back all that, and more who do every day. A leader who hasn’t apologised for it, and a Senate who didn’t convict him of it.
Millions going without water and power in Texas, many dying of hypothermia, while their Senator vacations in Cancun.
They all have a culture of violence and brutality to the point of death in common.
Right now, America is a deathtrap.
