Who here is familiar with the ADA MicroCab and/or ADA MicroCab II?
I can't find manuals archived online anywhere.

Anyway, my question is whether the MicroCab (first version) is
suitable for use between the power amp and speaker. I know from online
reading that the MicroCab II is designed to perform this way,
but I'm not sure about the MicroCab first version.

Thanks for any input on that.

As far as I know, Microcabs are not loads. The only difference between I and
II is that the second one features an internal power supply. Microcab input
is designed to receive only line levels.
If you need a real load between power amp and speaker, you should try a
Marshall Power Soak. For a load between power amp and mixing board, you
should use something like a Rocktron Juice Extractor.

I made a mistake, sorry... Please read "Microcab I input is designed to
receive ONLY line levels and Microcab II is designed to accept line AND
poweramp levels."...

I'm aware of the load issue. I have a Palmer PDI-09 that is a very simple
cabinet emulator that plugs between my power amp and speaker. It does not provide
a load, but has two outputs: one for the speaker and the other is the XLR.
The amp's speaker provides the load. Or I can use a load box that I made if I
don't want the speaker. The PDI-09, though, only has a 3 way switch for
cabinet: mellow/normal/bright and I wanted a little more control without paying
a huge amount of money. ADA's seem reasonabley priced.

My hope was that the MicroCab I at least had the "through" connection to
the speaker, but from what you're saying that's not the case, eh? :-/
