Triumph Amplifiers

Does anyone remember the Triumph Amplifiers from mid to late 1960's?

I saw a band ( i knew them quite well) in Oldham, near Manchester in
England called the rather mad (but quite topical) name of "Great Uncle
Fred's Clockwork Chiming Device" - all very cool.

They bought a pair of matching amplifers on finance which had the name
"Triumph" on them.
The format was rather unusual as the two speakers were arranged
vertically above each other, and then the amplifier control panel was
on top but sloped away into the cabinet at the top, which meant that
you had to reach in underneath the top of the cabinet to adjust the
controls.
They were in a grey rexine covering, and the panels may have had a
light inside the top so you could see the controls.
They really sounded very good.
I have never seen any before or since, the band folded and that was
that.
It's only recently that I remembered the amps and wondered if anyone
has any information/links/pictures of them.
They MAY have been made by Selmer.

Thanks,

Geoff

Made by some ex-Vox people, word has it, others say
Selmar. Note the wiring quality..or lack of it,
although said pix looks like someone played with
the guts.

Made by some ex-Vox people
As far as I have understood Triumph designed and built amplifiers for
Vox. These were either tubes or hybrids but the majority of Triumph
amps were solid state. Here is another interesting link:

At one time, alot of Vox were made by the 'Custom Sound'
people, who I believe also made Triumph, and a lot of other
'custom' brands. Like 'Orange' made the 'White' brand.

Custom Sound was also involved with the old Rose Morris
people, who after losing the Marshall Dist deal, did
the same for Vox. Pr1mo in Mass (where I worked)
imported the 'Venue' era Vox stuff, made by Custom sound.

...who built about the worse bunch of AC30's made to
that date. ALL with those silver 25yr tags are from
that era, and every one went thru my hands, tweeked
to make work. It wasn't easy. But Pr1mo tried hard,
and did a good job with what they had to deal with.

ahhh...the old days..

Do you have any links that you could post regarding this stuff?
I just love the nostalgia and British valve jobs. I would spend hours
surfing and reading about 50's, 60's, 70's amps and cabs.

thanks
