AFAICT they are OEM'ed from F&T (Fischer & Tausche).

Lower price, more compact, as good or better.

Hi Francois,

the axial TADs (and the pics of the current RUBYs) i received in the
last two years look conspiciously like OEM ICs and not like F&Ts,
although the older RUBYS *were* definitely Fischer & Tausches.

I don´t want to judge the reliablity and the "goodness" of the ICs. They
don´t seem to have "boutique" status, but that might be of there
lacking "rareness" factor. The original ICs (and their priniting) look
cheapish, but IMHO that does not have to mean a thing.

The gold printing of the TADs is at least a good marketing factor.....

just my 2 centimes

As TAD has numerous OEM sources, it's possible that some of their caps are
sourced from Illinois or from the same Asian suppliers..

OTOH, their Audio Cap line, the one I was thinking about, is quite certainly
OEM'ed from F&T

The Gold Cap line seems Asian, but, unlike IC's, are of metric size (25 x 50
mm vs. 7/8" x 2') and come in 500V ratings (the IC TTA and TMA stop at 450V)

TAD still has lots of Ruby-branded products in stock...

The IC's are OK: generic caps at decent prices. They measure and behave as
well as any other caps with similar specs - boutique status or not.
